#14 Personal Reflection

Overall I really enjoyed the module teamwork as I got to know my class mates better and make new friends as we were split into different groups each week to do the different exercises. My awareness and knowledge of teamwork issues has increased over the past months. I know the different types of people that can be in a team such as a dominant, shy, lazy etc. I’ve learned that to have a good team and to work together well that there needs to mix of different personalities otherwise people might clash. I really enjoyed some of the exercises such as the marshmallow challenge and the egg drop challenge as it was fun to compete with friends to see who could do better, and of course my team won on both.  Some other exercises were more serious and from some of these I have learned many concepts about teamwork.

I enjoy working in a team as I’m used to working with other people as I have played soccer and Gaelic all my life and I’ve also done many projects in both primary and mainly secondary school. I would prefer to do a team project rather than do one on my own as people have different ideas and some are more creative than others. Also, you can be more motivated when people around you want to achieve the same as you. So, you put harder work in.

I enjoyed doing the blogs as we were able to look at each other’s reflections of each exercises and see what they thought of it.

#13 Egg Drop Challenge

The Egg Drop is a team building activity that involves collaboration, problem solving, and creative teamwork. Groups build a structure out of ordinary materials and try to protect a raw egg from breaking when dropped from a high elevation.

This Week My team consisted of 4 people - Me, Tommy, Marcus, and Thomas. We worked together to complete the egg drop challenge and to come up with an idea using the materials to make sure that our egg didn't break. The materials that we were allowed to use were an Egg, tissue paper, normal paper, plastic, string, tape and cardboard. We were also allowed to use a scissors and a marker.

To start off we came up with ideas. Our first idea was a parachute, but as we started to make it we realized it would be very difficult to get it right. Our next and final idea was to wrap everything around the egg. firstly we wrapped it in tissue paper followed by paper and then plastic. we then used the cardboard slices to put around it so it would reduce the compact from the drop and then tied the string around everything to keep it in place.

In the end our egg did not break unlike the other team who's egg smashed which proves we were the better team.

#12 21st Century Tools for working in a Team

Teamwork.com
This week we were put into groups of two - Me and Leanne. We were given a technology tool which was teamwork.com. We researched about this during the class and found out what it could do and whats so good/bad about it.
Firstly we set up a team on the website to see what we were able to do with an account. We found this website a little confusing as there are so many different options and buttons to press.
This website is very good for teams as you can create a project and add people to the project so they can see whats going on. You are able to set tasks for each other and see who has what tasks and see due dates for each task. You can also set milestones. One disadvantage if this website is they email you too regularly. You get 1-2 emails each day which we found was a bit much and you also get an email if the slightest thing is changed in the project. but at the same time if you are a person that needs to be reminded then its good that you get emailed each day to remind you of  your tasks.

#11 Connection with peers

    Winning a Football final match.
This happened because we as a football team had to have a good connection and get on with each other in order to have a good outcome.

With this we were very good at playing as a team.
We won many matches and lost very little. even when we lost we kept our hopes up to keep every player positive about our teams future. At the end of each game we like to praise each other on how well each other played and not dwell too much on mistakes.

Our best players helped others on the team that need some advice and top tips. No one had told them to help the other players out but they were doing it out of kindness to help the others to be better players. our captain organised nights out for the team to bond which i think really helped us.

#10 Creativity & Innovation – Design Thinking

In groups of 3 We had to create a wallet, but a better one within a certain amount of time. so we came up with a few ideas, firstly was a wallet that had a magnet to close it as people often loose coins from leaving it open and are second idea we thought of something to help people that aren't so good with counting so we added a calculator to the inside pouch so it can be used calculate how much money you have or how much change you were given etc.We used our initials as a cover logo on the front of the wallet. i think we did a very good job at thinking of this design as we didn't have much time. We then had to make a mock up of it out of paper which can be seen in the 2 images.

#9 Creativity & Innovation – ‘The Extraordinaires team challenge’

We were given 2 different cards. One with a person and the second with a type of object and we had to think of an object that the person would use. For the first card we were given a soldier and the second card was a  time keeper. We came up with a few ideas including a necklace that had a small clock on it, a watch that couldn't get damaged that had his heart rate on it and glasses that had the time in the corner. We decided to go with the pair of glasses as we could add more advantages to it, so we added a symbol that shows where north is as well as the time and we also attached a small torch to the side.
